As we made our way to the check-in counter at LAX airport, it finally hit us that we were indeed going to Australia. As if the excitement of visiting this magical country was not enough, we knew we were also wait-listed to fly business class on the Qantas A380 airbus! Our reservation agent kindly told us the dress requirements (no jeans, business casual, etc.) and we scrambled to find clothes meeting the criteria in our already packed luggage. We spent a good few hours in the airport and managed to get through the whole day without destroying our “business class image”… until about 15 minutes prior to boarding our flight. My boyfriend felt he absolutely had to have a cheeseburger from Burger King and spilled a huge glob of mustard on his shirt. I jumped for my Tide-To-Go pen and began furiously scrubbing out the stain.

Then, it happened. Our names were called to fly business class! Now to those who fly business class regularly, this may not seem like a big deal. But for a couple of 20-somethings living a very average life in Chicago, this was unheard of!

We boarded our plane trying to hide all of our excitement and act like we belonged there as we sneakily snapped pictures of ridiculous things such as our expansive leg room, the business class cabin, and the champagne that barely lasted.

Almost immediately after takeoff, dinner was served. After satisfying my appetite I got into my comfy pajamas, brushed my teeth, used the fancy lotions in the overnight kit ( all of which, even the pajamas, were provided with business class seating) and watched Slum Dog Millionaire before drifting asleep in my fully reclining seat. Don’t get me wrong, these seats are no Heavenly Bed at a Westin, but they are definitely much more comfy than sitting at a 90° angle trying to catch some z’s.

Before I knew it, after a good night’s rest, breakfast was in my lap and we were starting our decent into Australia! I changed back into my oh-so-fancy-I’m-in-business-class-clothes, and eagerly waited to start my Australian adventure! I don’t know how I’ll ever fly coach after flying in such luxury.

When flying to Australia, we almost always find that Qantas provides our guests with the most enjoyable flight experience possible. Call us today to help book your flight to Australia and other South Pacific destinations with Qantas. There will likely be a great business class deal on the A380!
