QANTAS and Woolworths are intensifying efforts to sign more members to the retailer’s loyalty card by tapping into the airline’s 6 million-strong member database.

Frequent flyer members not signed up to Woolworths’ Everyday Rewards card have been told they will be soon.
In an email, members of the Qantas program were told they had been signed up automatically.
Qantas has more than 6 million members in its program, of whom about a third have already signed up to the Woolies loyalty card.
But the co-operation between the two companies – in this marketing promotion at least – appears to end there.
Qantas and Woolworths signed a deal in June to allow shoppers to turbocharge frequent flyer points by using their loyalty card in Woolworths group stores. Frequent flyer members who call Qantas’ contact centre to inquire about the offer – or complain to Qantas for what they see as overstepping the mark – are encouraged to sign up to an ANZ Qantas card, and not to Woolworths’ own Everyday Money card.
The Woolworths credit card is not linked to the Qantas Frequent Flyer program as it was launched before the Qantas-Woolworths frequent-flyer deal. Woolworths said there was no immediate plan to allow holders of its credit card to accrue Qantas frequent-flyer points directly, as do some other cards, such as the ANZ one.
